Centrifugal Embellishment – Wild Pear
May 23, 2022
I really like this effect and it’s a quick way to embellish an otherwise lackluster piece. Such was not the case with this piece of Wild Pear. Some of the heart wood had some very nice character, but most of it would have been turned away with a traditional turning. I’ve been wanting to use my iridescent acrylic on a piece so I bit the bullet. I know I’ll catch some grief for this, but it is a smallish bowl and I have plenty of those collecting dust. I laid two coats of Speedball Super Black India ink and applied four colors spinning one at a time. I finished the piece with four coats of gloss lacquer. Then I applied Ack’s Abrasive Paste and buffed it well before applying Ack’s Polish/Restoring Paste It looks great and I’m very satisfied. Enjoy. If you have questions that I didn’t answer, feel free to contact me. Thanks for watching.
