Building a Barndoor Cabinet/Kitchen Island – Part 1

October 23, 2020 By Billy Burt Sr Off

My wife asked me to build this not long after we moved into the new place. Well, that’s been a little over a year now… Recently she said, I really want you to have that done by Thanksgiving. So what do you do? You get on it… LOL! I bought a middle grade (sanded) sheet of 3/4″ plywood for the carcasas and shelves. I used reclaimed fence boards for the faceframe, side panels and door panels. I used resawn 1″ cedar decking for the visible part of the drawer fronts and reclaimed pecky cypress for the inside of the drawer front. The sides and backs of the drawers are resawn 2 x 8 and 2 x 10 kiln dried construction lumber. In part 1 I get the carcass and faceframe built. I tried to keep this is true new yankee fashion. If you have questions that I didn’t answer, feel free to contact me. Thanks for watching
