How to Turn and Carve the Ugliest Farmhouse Rustic Pumpkin Box Imaginable
September 7, 2020
I finally got to turn a piece. It didn’t turn out as attractive as I had hoped, but the wife likes it, so there’s that. I turned the somewhat squashed pumpkin shape then hollowed the inside. I power carved ribs along the outside of the box to give it that pumpkin look. Next I turned the lid to rough shape and power carved the top of it to look like the stem of a pumpkin. I colored the ribs with black India ink, sanded them back a bit and went over the exterior with General Finishes White Mist stain. I left the lid natural and gave the piece a liberal coat of Howard Feed N Wax. Thank you all again for your patience! If you have questions that I didn’t answer, feel free to contact me. Thanks for watching.
